Lauren Claire

Lauren was born into a musical family in Southeast Missouri. Lauren’s musical training began in ballet class at the age of three and was soon augmented by piano lessons at age five. She chose oboe in seventh grade beginning band and within two years played oboe in Handel’s “Messiah.”  Lauren’s musical accolades include the 2015 Eastern Music Festival, the 2014 Rocky Ridge Young Artist Seminar, the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra,the Interlochen Oboe Institute, and three years in the Missouri All-State Band.and three years in the Missouri All-State Band. Lauren has studied English horn with Cally Banham;oboe with Laura Guyer Ross; reed-making with Dr. Dan Ross; and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Oboe performance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas as a student of Professor Erin Hannigan. Lauren is also an accomplished pianist, having been chosen as the “best pianist” by the Southeast Missouri Federation of Music Clubs, and currently studies with Professor Alfred Mouledous at Southern Methodist University. When not playing oboe or piano, Lauren can be found singing soprano, playing four-mallet marimba, and cruising in her electric blue six-speed Mini Cooper S.
